Inspired by Walt’s own hometown of Marceline, Missouri, Main Street is the essence of the hometown America that greeted the dawn of the 20th century.
Main Street, U.S.A. recreates the unique charm of small town America a century ago. Standing at the crossroads of two eras, gas lamps are being replaced by Edison’s new electric lights, horse-drawn streetcars vie for the right of way with puttering new motorcars. New inventions, such as the Victrola, telephone and ice cream cones have been embraced by this town, which is filled with hope and optimism for the twentieth century.
